TRENTO in TRENTINO
Established in 1902 by Giulio Ferrari in the heart of Trento, Giulio quickly established his
reputation as the leading artisan of sparkling (spumante) wines in Italy focusing exclusively on
producing the finest quality wines using traditional Champagne methods and grapes. With no
family heir Giulio sold his business to Bruno Lunelli in the 1950s maintaining direct control of
production right up until his death. Bruno Lunelli, along with his five childen have preserved
this respect for quality while growing the Ferrari production into Italy’s number one selling
premium Spumante as well as the image of the brand into one of the most recognized and
respected in Italy today. The now legendary “Giulio Ferrari” bottling, created in his honor and
memory is tangible proof of this commitment.
While a range of world class sparkling wines dominate production with a state of the art
facility and massive underground cellars for remuage and maturation before degorgement
insure quality and consistency, the Lunelli family also possesses three hillside villas
surrounding the city of Trento: Villa Margon, Villa Gentillotti and Villa San Nicolo’, all of which
are dedicated to the small production of artisan still wines. Rounding out the Lunelli holdings
include an onsite distillery for the production of their Segnana grappa line and Surgiva aqua
minerale.
