The show, organised by Promexpo at Bologna from 9th to 12th May, is promoted by AISEM (Italian Association of Lifting, Elevating and Handling Systems) that for the year at hand has growth expectations, despite some critical factors (aboveall the fluctuation in raw material prices and the competition of Asiatic countries). It is in fact an exhibition of projects, products and prototypes associated with wine and beverage culture and consumption. • The Pavia event celebrates all that is design and creativity, from successful professional objects to new concepts of glasses and bottles, from the poetic “jewels for wine” to curious modes of serving that exploit innovatory technologies. Often paradox is the strongpoint of the projects on show: objects borrowed from tradition are redesigned with new material, or viceversa, traditional materials are made to suit the new forms of design. Now in its third edition, Vindesign 2007 can now boast the rating of “national show” recognised by the Regione Lombardia, and the prestigious “brand” of the city of Pavia. The first European summit will be held on the 1st and 2nd of October, during the fair and, on that occasion, the first European study dedicated to the industry of wellbeing will be exclusively presented. ■ Work in Progress BEAUTY BEYOND PARIS The Parisian beauty exhibition changes dates (1st-4th October 2007) and inaugurates new spaces and services. Beginning with the “start up space” for companies which aspire to enter the market and the exhibition space dedicated to the “bio” range of products. E.P. At the end of the last edition the change of date was already official: the next Beyond Beauty Paris would no longer take place in mid September, as it usually does, but from the 1st to the 4th of October 2007. The reason? An especially busy international calendar of events (and not just in this product sector) which has led the organisers of the exhibition centre of Paris Nord Villepinte to rationalise their entire schedule, postponing the shows. “The changes to the Villepinte calendar also regard BBParis 2007” announced International Sales Director Sophie 16 • 4/07 Dudicourt, expressing a positive opinion: “All in all it is a beneficial change as it avoids clashes with other fairs and, moreover, allows exhibitors a little more time to organise their attendance after the summer break”. Beginners and “bio” - But postponing it until October is not the only change that has been made to the next BBParis. The 4 x 1 of beauty Beyond Beauty Paris is organised by Itec France, in partnership with the French Federation of perfumers. It consists of 4 shows which are held in the halls of Paris Nord Villepinte: Cosmeeting (beauty products), Créative (suppliers of packaging and services), Spa & Institut (products and equipment for “salus per aquam”), Ingredients (raw materials). As regards the Expo, it grew by 55% in its first four years, with 75% of exhibitors returning for a second time. In 2006 there were 731 stands, covering a space of 50 thousand m2, and 16,605 professional visitors. Promotional activity is intense and there is a constant flow of services and ideas to make operators’ visits easier . These include: the space named “Zoom” (dedicated to the most innovative products), the busy calendar of conferences on themes and trends, the “BBLab” workshop of ideas and projects (which involves producers, suppliers and creative designers), the “Beauty Niche Program” (a springboard for niche brands)…. known businesses and, in the final analysis, to anything which is new, not standard, emerging… This year they will take a further step by inaugurating the “start up space”, a well-defined area, organised into small modules, purposely designed for small companies which aspire to establish themselves in the cosmetic market. The other area which will be reinforced is that of so-called natural and organic products for beauty and personal care, denominated Natural & Bio Cosmeeting, which will be given more space and visibility. Indeed, these niche products account for a smaller share compared to the overall sector offer, though they do, however, play an important part as trend setters, considerably influencing consumer sensitivity and consequently the entire sector’s advertising. At the last Cosmeeting this area represented 20% of the brands exhibited but, Itec estimates, its importance is destined to grow, so much so that it will merit a space all of its own, where leading players from the entire Natural industry can meet, favouring a direct contact between buyers and manufacturers (including an especially high number of non French). Natural & Bio Cosmeeting consists of a transversal space where, alongside the latest proposals from the natural and “fair trade” circuit, there are also quality European brands, ingredients, packaging and labeling, services (design, certification, consultancy, labeling…). Last, but not least, a busy programme of conferences and interactive workshops, organised in partnership with Cosmebio and open to everyone, will act as a mouthpiece not only for industry players but also for various technicians and experts who contribute to defining this typology of products and relative markets. ■
