Inizia lo studio del violoncello al Juilliard Pre-College sotto la guida di Toby Saks, Michael
Rudiakov, Channing Robbins e Jerome Carrington. Continua i suoi studi al Juilliard School sotto la
guida di Lorne Munroe, ottenendo “Bachelor's Degree” e ricevendo anche il premio “Mu Phi
Epsilon”. Si perfeziona sotto la guida del Maestro Antonio Janigro alla Musikhochschule di
Stoccarda e al Mozarteum di Salisburgo. Per molti anni studia Musica da Camera con Robert Mann
(Juilliard Quartet), con Alexander e Mischa Schneider (Budapest Quartet) e Felix Galimir. Studia
anche all’Accademia Chigiana di Siena dove ottiene il Diploma di Merito. Marianne Chen si è
esibita nelle maggiori sale da concerto e Festival negli Stati Uniti, Europa e Asia. Ha registrato per
Dynamic, Tactus e New Age, RAI e reti televisive, che includevano prime assolute di musica
contemporanea. Marianne tiene regolarmente master classes in Europa e Stati Uniti. Molti dei suoi
studenti hanno vinto premi in concorsi sia nazionali che internazionali. È stata ospite come Maestro
di violoncello al Garden State Music Festival – New Jersey, Zephry Chamber Music Festival, al
The Gustav Mahler Academy a Bolzano, alla Scuola di Musica a Fiesole, Juilliard School, in Grecia
e Slovenia. Marianne viene spesso invitata come membro di giurie in concorsi come il Vittorio Gui
“International Chamber Music”, “International Chamber Music Competition” a Pinerolo, Premio
“Trio Trieste” e Arturo Toscanini International Conducting Competition.
Marianne Chen è docente di violoncello all’Istituto Superiore di Musica a Modena.
Began studying cello at the Juilliard Pre-College under the guidance of Toby Saks, Michael
Rudiakov, Channing Robbins and Jerome Carrington,she continued her studies at the Juilliard
School under the leadership of Lorne Munroe , obtaining her Bachelor's Degree and also receiving
the "Mu Phi Epsilon"Prize. She furthered her studies under Maestro Antonio Janigro at the
Musikhochschule in Stuttgart and the Mozarteum in Salzburg. For years she studied Chamber
music with Robert Mann (Juilliard Quartet), with Alexander and Mischa Schneider (Budapest
Quartet), and Felix Galimir,She also studied at the Chigiana Academy of Siena, where she obtained
the Diploma of Merit. Marianne Chen has performed in major concert halls and festivals in the
United States, Europe and Asia. She has recorded for Dynamic,Tactus and the New Age, and for the
RAI and other networks, including premiere performances in contemporary music. Marianne
regularly holds master classes in Europe and the United States. Many of her students have won
prizes in national and international competitions.
She was guest professor of cello at Garden State Music Festival - New Jersey, Zephry Chamber
Music Festival, The Gustav Mahler Academy in Bolzano, School of Music in Fiesole, Juilliard
School and in Greece, Slovenia. Marianne is often invited to be part of juries,such as VIttorio Gui
"International chamber music", "international chamber Music competiton" in Pinerolo,Premio "Trio
di Trieste",and the Arturo Toscanini International Conducting Competition. She is Professor of
cello at the Istituto Superiore of Music in Modena.
