E.R. E.R. E.R. E.R. Alte, molto alte. Vi faremo sapere dopo la fiera! l The third dimension of fabrics Since 1962, the company is specialized in the production of innovative technical fabrics of high quality, especially three-dimensional fabrics, shaped by the experience that the company for decades has acknowledged looking after the necessities of their customers. The three-dimensional fabric in the beginning mostly used for technical purposes, over the years has been recognized and appreciated all over the world thus allowing the company to open itself towards new areas and working together with the big names belonging to the field of furniture, fashion and automotive. Especially 5 H46 the fashion world is asking for these products for their uniqueness and their extraordinary characteristics. They are used for the production of leisure- and sportswear as well as for accessories like bags and shoes. Sectors like the furniture- and automotive industry made it possible for Gaetano Rossini to get closer to new markets and to tell about those characteristics like elasticity, resistance, non-conformability that give the 3D fabric versatility and functionality in line with the necessities and the taste of their clients. The fabrics for clothing have been used by the most important Italian fashion houses that continue to seek developments never proposed and the distinctive uniqueness of those products. We asked Emiliano Rossini to introduce us to the world of Gaetano Rossini… HOME. In difficult times, the companies have to consider very hard choices such as industry relocation, reduction of budget or others. What are the strategies your company voted for? 6 p 44-47 intervista rossini_Layout 1 03/04/14 09.24 Pagina 47 EMILIANO ROSSINI. We decided to grow thus investing in innovation. We thought that the machine park at our disposal and the knowledge of our technical staff would be appropriate for following the road of searching new productions with which we could be present on the market without having to deal with competiveness of prices. H. The investments you made in these directions, were they mainly addressed to plants, to the development of new products, marketing or others? E.R. It was a mixture of all these elements where each element is supporting the other one. For example, a plant that is not used makes you think of developing a new product whereas the marketing supports and introduces the product. Gradually we are enabled to create and introduce whole collections. 7 H. How did you manage the generation change in the company? E.R. From the need to change the target, from the automotive sec- tor to fashion and furniture the necessity of new staff was born with qualifications for different sectors. Fashion and furniture are two “young” areas… here we are! H. Which actions do you undertake to re-launch your brand and your historic know how even in sectors that are different to furniture? E.R. A big research in terms of positioning to be able to indivi- duate possible contacts for our marketing actions. The Proposte Fair of Cernobbio in which we will participate again after being absent for some years is an example for what we are doing in addition to an image campaign regarding traditional communication as well as the web. H. How does a new product originate? E.R. It originates by a mix of study, chance and creativity. We pay a lot of attention to the daily occasions. While we are attending a meeting for one article, we turn home and develop two more. It is a question of thinking and preparation. H. What are the features of a three-dimensional technical fabric? E.R. For sure the innovation of the fabric itself that by its nature unites aesthetic and an unexpected resistance. Each client that sees our fabrics for the first time remains impressed by their beauty that is combined to elevated technical characteristics that makes them appropriate for any kind of use. H. What are, in order of importance, the fields of appliance for this technology? E.R. The three main ones are fashion with which we literally inva- ded the market; the furniture industry and the automotive industry that still today gives us great results. We gained recognition in several areas, the latest one directly from Trevira Cs (see article on page 26) that recognized the distinctive uniqueness of our fabrics and their very high performances. H. What are the most important foreign markets that appreciated most this innovation? 8 E.R. With modesty we can affirm that whoever has seen our pro- ducts does appreciate them. Their characteristics and their outstanding esthetic value allow us to propose them on a large scale and in many different markets, as for example the German automotive market, the Turkish nautical one and the French, Swiss and oriental ones for furniture. 7. Three-dimensional fabric for upholstery and fashion. H. In the contract business, your products are much appreciated. How do you approach this market? E.R. Our contract strategy is developing and we do not want to di- sclose too much. We can say that we work on the planners and the clients. Among our references there is already the San Carlo Theater in Naples, the Boscolo Hotel in Milan and others. H. Finally, what are your expectations for the return of Gaetano Rossini at Proposte in May? E.R. High, very high. We will let you know after the fair! l “Noi abbiamo scelto di crescere, investendo sul’innovazione.
