REIN panels are semi-finished products to be employed in housing and industrial projects, for the construction of bearing frames in both single-floored and multi-storey buildings as well as secondary structures, such as partitions, curtain walls, (“isoplak”) insulation covers and insulated floors. REIN panels consist of an electrowelded-steel spatial trestlework enclosing a layer of polyurethane foam. The panel is prefabricated at the Manufacturer’s and eventually completed on the building side by adding two layers of sprayed concrete. The finished product is therefore a sort of "sandwich" panel, consisting of an insulating core placed between two concrete slabs, joined by diagonal reinforcements. The panels are dry-packed and suitably joined according to the technical drawings supplied with the building package. Eventually, concrete is cast by spraying ("spritz-beton"). The spraying method is divided into two steps: the former layer fills the gap between the polyurethane and the netting, the latter is cast until the required thickness is attained. This method is made possible by the use of a layer of polyurethane foam which, besides acting as an insulating material, serves as a caisson, boxing the sprayed concrete. Fig. 1 Cap. Il cappotto così eseguito, sia all'esterno che eventualmente all'interno della parete preesistente è caratterizzato dalla assoluta mancanza di ponti termici. Procedura: 1. 3. Incartatura; i pannelli vengono spruzzati con malta fino a filo rete. 4. C.2 Isoplak: Heat-insulation and soundproofing coating This insulation coating is manufactured with R245P panel. The special design of the coating, which may be located on either the external or the internal side of the existing wall, allows avoiding any insulation gaps. Procedure: 1. The panels are fixed to the building by means of screw anchors*. The polyurethane layer is placed directly against the existing wall. 2. The panels are joined by means of RG1 netting. If necessary, clips may be added with a pneumatic clinching machine. 3. Wrapping: the panels are sprayed with mortar until reaching netting level. 4. Plastering: mortar or a pre-mixed plaster is sprayed on the wrapped surface until reaching the required thickness. Eventually the finishing is carried out by plastering trowel. • HILTI, FISHER or SPIT screw anchors, provided with anchoring straps, are selected and supplied by Nuova Rein s.r.l. upon request. Their features and quantity are as required by panel type and the characteristics of the existing wall. Chapter D - APPLICABLE REGULATIONS When defining the calculation method for the structures built with REIN panels, and the required reference figures and data, the relevant provisions contained in the following rules and regulations are referred to: a) L. 05/11/71 no. 1086 – Regulations enforced to provide for works in ordinary, prestressed and metal-structure reinforced concrete (where applicable) b) D.M. 14/12/92 – Technical regulations for the building of ordinary and prestressed reinforced-concrete works and metal structures. c) D.M. 03/12/87 - Technical regulations for the design, building and testing of prefabricated structures. d) C.E.B. provisions – International standard provisions for the calculation and manufacture of large-sized panels. e) CNR. – Technical regulations no. 10.025/84 – Instructions for the design, manufacturing and testing of concrete-mix prefabricated structures and all structures manufactured with industrialized systems. Cap. E - FASI DI REALIZZAZIONE DEL SISTEMA (rif. Fig. 3) 1) Fondazioni: Sono generalmente di tipo continuo. Chapter E - PROCESSING STEPS: (see Fig. 3) 1) Foundations: They are generally unbroken. If necessary, a supporting curb may be added, to be manufactured with either an ordinary reinforced beam or a Rein panel, with no polyurethane, equipped with a connecting chain ( 2∅12 or 2∅16 at least in a seismic area). If included in the curb, the Rein system required fastening braces, as shown in the technical drawings. Since the fastening braces are located inside the panel netting, it is of the utmost importance to carefully arrange them in the correct position. 2) Wall assembly: This operation simply requires placing the panels against the curb and eventually fastening them to the braces and the side panels. A surveyor’s cross or wooden props are used to ensure proper vertical and orthogonal alignment of the walls. After completing the dry-assembly operations, the following steps are carried out: - Casings and doorframes are located; - Utility pipelines and raceways are laid down; - RG1 straps (supplied by REIN) are used to fill any gaps between nettings - The system’s typical joints are arranged as shown in the technical drawings - The netting is restored where the construction electricians had cut it 3) Floor assembly: Rein panels or any other of material and floor type may be used. As with ordinary structures, the operation is carried out with props and scaffolds 4) Wall spraying: The operation is carried out according to the following order: - A scratch coat to fill the gap - Placing reference posts according to the final thickness required; - A floated coat to reach the required thickness; - Skimming coat by plastering trowel; - Finishing coat (if required). 5) Floor casting: It uses the same method as in the traditional system. The casing is only to be carried out after including the required bearing thickness in the walls as per the calculations, and inserting the required fastening reinforcements. Cap. Wiring: (2-worker teams) - Half a day’s work is sufficient to lay the wiring system for a 90-sq.mt. house. Chapter G - ADVANTAGES Cap. Riassumendo, i pannelli Rein offrono i seguenti vantaggi: 1. 2. Altissimo confort abitativo per isolamento acustico e termico. 3. Notevole risparmio energetico grazie allo strato coibentante continuo realizzato in poliuretano espanso. No financial assessments or remarks on the finished product are included in this chapter, as the final cost is affected by several variable factors, such as labour costs, which are to be estimated according to the specific case. It is however noteworthy to point out that the past experience inherited by Nuova Rein and examples of past customers show a 20% cost reduction compared with traditional and prefabricated walls. In conclusion, Rein panels offer the following advantages: 1. Full safety during seismic events, as the system is a single structure consisting of two bearing layers and the concrete is sprayed between them on site. It therefore has full 3D boxing features and the use of reinforcement netting avoids collapse or sudden chipping off of the components. 2. Excellent housing comfort as far as heat insulation and soundproofing are concerned. 3. High power consumption saving, thanks to the unbroken insulating layer in polyurethane foam. 4. 4 Fast working schedule, exceptional as to manufacturing ease and speed, though employing the available construction staff. 5 Larger working surface (5% at least) with the same volume as in traditional designs, thanks to the reduced thickness of the bearing structures. A 30-cm. thickness in a traditional bearing structure corresponds to a max thickness of 22c m. with Rein system (according to the number of floors and floor openings). One-storey or doublestorey houses will require 16-cm bearing walls. 6 Excellent fire-resisting properties. A 12cmthick finished wall offers a 120' fire resistance. Thicker walls offer a 180' fire resistance. 7 Easy operation and running on the building site, thanks to the low number of components required for the manufacturing process. The equipment generally required includes panels, concrete, aggregate, a concrete mixer, a grinding wheel and ordinary building tools. The final result rivals traditional structures.
