The objective of the SEUD is to focus the attention on a group of benign gynecological diseases which affect womens’ health (endometriosis, adenomyosis, uterine fibroids, polyps, heavy menstrual bleeeding, uterine malformations and others). The congress has been designed to provide an innovative and comprehensive overview of the latest research developments in endometriosis, in uterine disorders and in women’s reproductive life fields. Many distinguished scientists from all over the world take part to this congress. I would like to sincerely thank them for their investment. The steering Committee hopes this meeting will provide an exceptional opportunity for you to share your expertise in order to develop and facilitate ongoing collaborations and studies. The congress will be articulated around plenary sessions, conferences, debates, KOL positions, symposia, live surgery… Moreover free communications, posters and videos assure this meeting will know a resounding success. With its incomparable heritage and profusion of sites and monuments, Paris is a dream destination for visitors in search of historic splendour. Thanks to its unique blend of iconic sights, innovative architecture and unusual places, the French capital promises a cultural journey like no other through 1,803 monuments, 173 museums and a host of other exceptional sites. The top things to do on a first-time visit: enjoy a panoramic view of the city from a 324-metre height at the top of the Eiffel Tower, admire Victor Hugo’s beloved gargoyles at Notre Dame Cathedral and stand at the top of the tallest hill in Paris at the Sacré Cœur Basilica. These are the three monuments most popular with visitors to Paris. Not far from Notre Dame Cathedral, the Sainte Chapelle with its beautiful stained glass windows is also well worth visiting. A short distance from the Champs-Elysées, the Grand Palais, a huge stone, steel and glass structure, hosts prestigious exhibitions. Built by Napoleon, the Arc de Triomphe offers a breathtaking bird’s-eye view of the city. In the heart of Paris, the Louvre is a former royal residence which was transformed into a museum after the Revolution and has since become the world’s most visited museum. The Musée d’Orsay houses the largest collection of Impressionist and post-Impressionist paintings in the world. Another must-see is the Palais Garnier with its ornately decorated 26 façade and its ceiling painted by Marc Chagall. Finally, a trip out to the Père Lachaise cemetery offers the opportunity to pay homage at the tombs of many famous people. UNUSUAL MUSEUMS: PARIS’S ALTERNATIVE HERITAGE The Louvre and the Pompidou Centre are far from being the only museums in Paris. The city has many lesser known, often private, museums that are well worth going out of your way to visit, such as the Musée de l’Erotisme in Pigalle, which displays erotic art works from around the world. Another quirky place to visit is the Musée des Egouts comprising the largest network of sewers in the world, showing what Paris looks like below ground. The other major underground attraction, the Paris Catacombs dating from Roman times, is a labyrinthine network housing the remains of more than six million Parisians transferred here from the city’s cemeteries. The Catacombs draw a constant stream of visitors, though only 200 people are allowed inside at a time. There is a completely different atmosphere at the Musée des Arts Forains, where visitors can relive the experience of a 19th-century funfair and learn how to restore an ancient merry-go-round. Another museum in a 19th-century Napoleon III townhouse, the Musée du Parfum, gives visitors an unforgettable insight into perfume and the history of traditional perfume making at the Fragonard factory.
