Visiting researcher scholar at the Fernand Braudel Center, University of Binghamton, NY (September 2010 – July 2011). Research Project: “A Pop-Camorra: the culture of mediation in 100 films about the Campanian organized crime” The research project deals with a delicate issue: can popular culture help to disseminate an appropriate analytical knowledge about criminal organizations? The research identifies the main theoretical questions that every study of Camorra has to face. In particular, it explains its power as a dynamic mix of violence and social consensus. The study, then, verifies how 100 films have dealt with these fundamental questions. The work's main thesis is that, on specific conditions, a culture of mediation can promote the collective awareness, which is necessary to defy the social consensus that accounts for mafia-type organizations' power. Dot 2.0 , Virtual Department of Political and Social Studies In May 2009 I launched the initiative Dot 2.0, whose aim was to create a instrument of internal communication, among the PhD students of my department, and to promote the utilization of the NICT and multimedia within social sciences. Today Dot 2.0 is a project which connects scholars, students, and professionals. It produces videos, documentaries, scientific and journalistic articles, that document the importance of the social scientific analysis in the understanding of contemporary societies. “..because social sciences matter..” is its tagline. • Dates (from – to) • Name and type of organisation providing education and training October 2009 Unione industriale torinese Centro ricerche FIAT November 2009 Politecnico of Turin • Principal subjects/occupational skills covered High level seminar in “Management of Innovation” OpenAccessDay @ Polito • Dates • Name • Principal subjects • Title • Level • Dates • Name • Principal subjects • Title • Level • Dates • Name • Principal subjects • Title • Level September 2011 Univ. of Turin: Dep. of Science of Communication Summer school: “The future of television” September 2005 – March 2008 Master of Arts in “International relations”, Political Sciences, University of Bologne Dissertation: “Open source and ideology”, an essay about the evolution of capitalism, as historical form, from the Protestant reform to the Information society, the Internet age.
