“Ci vogliono gli occhi di un navigante
per vedere la riva oltre l’orizzonte”
dice l’autore, e sono questi gli occhi
con i quali Pallucco percorre le vie del
design sin dagli anni ‘80, identificando
e scegliendo non quello che è semplice
moda, ma quello che rappresenta la
tendenza dello stile.
Un’approccio attento e colto,
disinvoltamente anticonformista, ha
permesso all’azienda di affermarsi
nel panorama internazionale sin
dalla sua fondazione, nei primi anni
‘80; approccio testimoniato dagli
allestimenti negli spazi del mattatoio
abbandonato per il Salone del Mobile
di Milano tra il 1987 e il 1989 che
anticipano la tendenza al recupero di
volumi urbani che sta timidamente
muovendo i primi passi a Londra,
New York e Berlino.
Riaffermato dalla collaborazione
con Peter Lindbergh, che ne cura
l’immagine per i primi cataloghi,
e con Rei Kawakubo, stilista di
Comme des Garçons che disegna per
Pallucco una indimenticabile serie di
tavoli e sedute, lo stile dell’azienda
è una sapiente fusione di attenzione
a quanto di nuovo propongono i
designer più interessanti del panorama
internazionale e di raffinata ricerca
delle radici del disegno industriale,
come nel caso della riedizione della
lampada Fortuny, che grazie a Pallucco
diventa un’icona di stile senza tempo.
Icona come il raffinato, visionario,
iconoclasta Joe Colombo, il designer
che progetta le città nucleari per
reinventare il modo di abitare, e
quindi di vivere, di un futuro solo
ipotizzato, di cui Pallucco produce
la lampada “Bolle” con la sua luce
che ricorda utopie futuriste e visioni
metropolitane. Pallucco propone
già negli anni ‘90 nuove linee e
nuove idee ispirate a un rigoroso
minimalismo urbano, grazie alla
collaborazione con Hannes Wettstein,
direttore artistico che per l’azienda

disegna uno dei suoi Masterpiece, la
libreria Continua (1992), portando
alla ribalta del mondo del design il
concetto di tecnologia come nuova
forma oltre l’estetica. La direzione
artistica di Jurgen Bey sposta l’asse
dell’attenzione di Pallucco su nuove
forme e nuovi linguaggi formali,
e contemporaneamente allarga il
pool di designer che producono
e sperimentano nuove soluzioni
estetiche, esplorando le frontiere del
design contemporaneo con la libertà
espressiva che è la firma più autentica
dello stile Pallucco. Matali Crasset,
Kazuhiro Yamanaka, Jean Nouvel,
Denis Santachiara, Studio Lagranja,
Susanne Philippson, Sergio Calatroni,
Enrico Franzolini, creano per Pallucco

Garçons designer who designed a
memorable set of tables and chairs
for Pallucco, the company developed
a style in which alertness to new
objects being created by exciting
international designers was shrewdly
combined with a refined study of the
roots of industrial design. A good
example of this was the new version
of the Fortuny lamp, which Pallucco
turned into a timeless style icon.
Another icon of design who
orbited into contact with the Pallucco
world was the refined, visionary,
iconoclast Joe Colombo, the
designer who designed nuclear cities
to reinvent a way of dwelling and
therefore of living. Pallucco presented
his lamp “Bolle” whose atmosphere
created by the light brings to mind
futurist utopias and metropolitan
visions. In the ‘90s Pallucco was
already offering new lines and new
ideas bringing into play a severe urban
minimalism under the influence of
Hannes Wettstein as art director,
who designed one of his masterpieces
for the company — the Continua
bookcase (1992) — and brought the
attention of the design world to the
concept of technology as a new form
in addition to the purely aesthetic.
The art direction of Jurgen Bey shifted
Pallucco’s attention to new forms
and new formal languages and at the
same time the company enlarged its
pool of designers who produced and
experimented new aesthetic ideas,
exploring the frontiers of modern
design with the expressive freedom
that is the hallmark of Pallucco style.
Matali Crasset, Kazuhiro Yamanaka,
Jean Nouvel, Denis Santachiara, Studio
Lagranja, Susanne Philippson, Sergio
Calatroni and Enrico Franzolini have
created not only their best pieces for
Pallucco, but also denote the style of a
think tank where the ideas and trends
of multicultural design, which knows
no boundaries, are met head-on.

“You need the eyes of a voyager
to see the shoreline beyond the
horizon”, says the author, and it is
with these eyes that Pallucco has
been travelling the paths of design
ever since the ‘80s, identifying and
selecting not the simply fashionable
but what represents style trends.
Thanks to a perceptively refined
and nonchalantly non-conformist
approach, the company made a name
for itself on the international scene
from the moment it was established
in the early ‘80s. This approach could
clearly be seen in the stands set up
in the spaces inside the abandoned
abattoir where the Salone del Mobile
(Furniture Fair) of Milan was held
between 1987 and 1989, which
heralded the trend to recover urban
buildings that was tentatively taking its
first steps in London, New York and
Berlin. Working with Peter Lindbergh,
who was responsible for the image
put across by the first catalogues,

lampada Fortuny, dove il tessuto
diventa protagonista insieme alla luce.
Steelcut Trio2 disegnato dal geniale
creatore di tessuti Frans Dijkmeijer
insieme a Giulio Ridolfo, il virtuoso
dei colori, è composto da lana
vergine (90%) e nylon e intreccia fili
di tre colorazioni di grande effetto.
Le nuance scelte da Pallucco si
abbinano elegantemente ai 3 colori
della struttura del cavalletto, con
struttura nera viene abbinato un
tessuto con intrecci neri, celesti e
arancio per il titanio si abbina il grigio
e viola mentre per la struttura bianca
è stato scelto un tessuto bianco,
rosso e nero. Struttura della lampada
è in profilato a C, piatto trafilato e
tubo d’acciaio. Verniciatura a polveri
epossidiche nei colori nero, bianco
o titanio. Orientabile e regolabile in
altezza. Lampadina ad incandescenza
da 500w, flusso luminoso 8400im, e
lampadina da 300w, flusso luminoso

Fortuny, bei der Stoff und Licht

proviene dai giardini rocciosi
Giapponesi in cui la bellezza
dell’universo si esprime in un
ambiente terreno. La superficie delle
rocce è quasi nascosta, il visitatore
dei giardini si lascia trasportare
immaginando forme e volumi
sommersi e invisibili. Ogni roccia ha
una propria inclinazione e carattere.
La relazione tra le diverse rocce
crea una storia.
Rock Garden è una famiglia di
lampade composta da una versione
grande con struttura rettangolare
in cui l’utilizzatore può liberamente
posizionare diverse piramidi ed
una lampada singola tipo spot con
un’unica piramide.
Nella lampada a sospensione
grande la struttura funge da
corpo illuminante ed è dotata di
2 lampadine fluorescenti t5 (54w
o 80w) attacco g5, luce calda.
La versione singolo spot è invece
dotata di una lampadina led 6w,
Attacco gu10, luce calda.

Rock Garden has drawn its
inspiration from Japanese rock
gardens in which the beauty of the
universe is expressed in earthly
surroundings. The surface of
the rocks is almost hidden and
visitors to the gardens let their
subconscious conjure up submerged,
invisible shapes and volumes. Each
rock has its own inclination and
character and the association
between the different rocks creates
a story.
Rock Garden is a lamp, which
comes in a large version with
a rectangular structure where
various pyramid shapes are freely
accommodated and a single spotlight
version with a single pyramid.
The structure in this large
pendant lamp acts as the lighting
fixture and is fitted with 2 warm
light fluorescent bulbs t5 (54w or
80w) g5 socket.
The single spotlight version is
fitted with one warm light 6w led,
gu10 socket.

Die Inspiration für Rock Garden sind
die japanischen Steingärten, in denen
die Schönheit des Universums in
einem irdischen Ambiente Ausdruck
findet. Die Oberfläche der Steine
ist fast verborgen, der Besucher
der Gärten lässt sich mitnehmen

Rock Garden ist einen Familie
von Leuchten bestehend aus einer
großen Ausführung mit einem
rechteckigen Gestell, in dem der
Benutzer verschiedene Pyramiden
frei positionieren kann, und einer
einzelnen Spot-Leuchte mit einer
einzigen Pyramide.
Bei der Hängeleuchte dient das
Gestell als Beleuchtungskörper
und ist ausgerüstet mit zwei 2

Die Ausführung mit Einzelspot ist

Hannes Wettstein, si è ispirato ai fari
delle vecchie biciclette olandesi. Il suo
stile risulta perfettamente armonico
nell’abbinare la forte personalità
del diffusore in alluminio ed il
protagonismo del cono di luce che
attrae l’osservatore.
La famiglia è composta da Faro
Terra con stelo in acciaio verniciato
color zinco, Faro Base con base
tribolata e Faro su barra ovvero
i modelli a sospensione,su barra
in metallo verniciato color zinco,
con 2 o 3 diffusori. Tutti i modelli
sono dotati di diffusori, in alluminio

For the Faro project, the designer
Hannes Wettstein took inspiration
from the lights found on old Dutch
bicycles. The strong character of
the aluminium diffuser is combined
with the stage-stealing cone of light
that draws the observer, striking a
perfectly harmonious balance in style.
The family comprises various models:
Faro Terra with its zinc-coloured
painted steel stem; Faro Base with a
three-lobed base and Faro su barra,
i.e. pendant models attached to a
zinc-coloured painted metal bar,
which come with 2 or 3 diffusers. All

Für das Projekt Faro hat sich
der Designer Hannes Wettstein
an den Scheinwerfern alter
holländischer Fahrräder inspiriert.
Aus der Kombination der starken
Persönlichkeit des Schirms aus
Aluminium und dem alle Blicke des
Beobachters auf sich ziehenden
Lichtkegel ergibt sich ein perfekt
harmonischer Stil.
Die Leuchtenfamilie besteht
aus drei verschiedenen Modellen:

Guardian of Light appare come una
lampada dal classico paralume, ma
poi accendendola, si capisce l’idea
innovativa: il paralume è un mantello
chiuso che nasconde la magia della
luce. Quando il mantello si apre,
mediante il lembo sporgente, la
lampada sprigiona dolcemente la
sua luce per poi spegnersi una volta
richiuso.
La lampada è caratterizzata da
un diffusore in policarbonato ed
una struttura in metallo verniciati a
gomma liquida nei colori nero opaco
e bianco opaco.
L’accensione e lo spegnimento
della lampada avvengono
automaticamente mediante apertura
e chiusura del diffusore, ovvero
tramite un contatto magnetico che
agisce sull’alimentatore elettronico.
La lampada è dotata di 2

of The Guardians of Light look like
classic lampshades until they are
switched on, when you understand
the innovative idea: the shade is
a cloak that wraps around itself,
keeping the magic of the light secret.
When the cloak is opened, by means
of the protruding flap, the lamp
gently releases its light, which goes
out again when the cloak is closed.
All lamps feature a polycarbonate
shade and a liquid rubber coated
metal structure in the finishes: matt
black and matt white.
The lamp has a “soft start” feature
so that it can be switched on and
off automatically when the shade
is opened and closed, as it is the
magnetic contact that operates the
electronic power supply.

Die Guardians of Light treten als
Leuchten mit klassischem Schirm
auf, wenn man sie jedoch einschaltet,

der klassischen Erscheinung eine
innovative Idee verbirgt: Der Schirm
ist ein um sich selbst geschlossener
Mantel, der die Magie des Lichts

Las Guardian of Light se presentan
como las lámparas de pantalla clásica,
pero al encenderlas, se comprende
que detrás de la “clasicidad” se oculta
una idea innovadora: la pantalla es
una “capa” cerrada sobre sí misma
que oculta la magia de la luz. Cuando
la capa se abre, mediante el borde
saliente, la lámpara emite dulcemente
su luz y se apaga una vez cerrada.
Todas las lámparas se caracterizan
por un difusor de policarbonato y
una estructura de metal pintado de
goma líquida negro mate y blanco
mate.
El encendido y el apagado “soft
start” de la lámpara son automáticos
al abrir y cerrar el difusor, o bien con

dall’unione di una serie di superfici curve, che insieme avvolgono e
celano la fonte luminosa. Il diffusore è
caratterizzato da uno speciale tessuto
riflettente, rivestito da micro sfere
di vetro, che, viste da una precisa
angolatura, appaiono quasi ghiaccio. La collezione Joiin comprende:
una lampada da terra e sospensioni
con diverse dimensioni. La versione

Joiin explores the notion of weaving
light and includes a series of curved
surfaces that couple together to shade its light source. The textile used to
cover the shade comes finely coated

The Joiin series includes a floorlamp and pendant lamps with different dimensions. As a pendant lamp,

Joiin verkörpert die Vorstellung von

The Foglie design is inspired by nature
and it’s intrinsic force contained in
every plant which blossoms in the
spring. In the floor lamp version,
the stem of the light represents
the tree trunk and the branches
accompany the ray of light upwards;
in the pendant model, the branches
stretching downwards “tame” the
light, breaking it up into as many rays
as there are branches.
The diffusers are made of
“leaves” in injection moulded opaline
polycarbonate in light ivory ral 1015,
traffic white ral 9016 and oxide red
ral 3009. The supporting structure
has an epoxy powder coated finish
in the same colours as the “leaves”.
The pendant versions are available
in three different diameters: 520mm,

toque para activar el mecanismo
de apertura que permite una
extensión de hasta dos metros y
veinte. Cada uno puede escoger
libremente el nivel de extensión de
la lámpara, descubriendo el juego
de la reinvención permanente de
las atmósferas de luz que se pueden
crear variando las distintas alturas.
Micro Telescopic es en estrusiòn de
aluminio en los colores blanco mate,
níquel y negro mate. La suspensión
está disponible con tres ó cuatro
módulos telescópicos. La versión de
suelo tiene cuatro módulos y está
dotada de base que permite alojar
cuatro lámparas.
Cada lámpara telescópica está
dotada de tecnología power led de
potencia 13w, de transformador y
regulador de luz propio.

la maniglia. La forma è pura.
I parallelepipedi sono mobili
contenitori orizzontali e verticali,
pensili o con struttura autoportante.
Tutti sono realizzati in MDF con
lavorazione a 45° con anta in
multistrato curvato. I contenitori
orizzontali hanno l’anta a ribalta,
governata da un sistema a cavo con
pistone a gas. Disponibile anche
nella versione Grande che poggia su
un’asimmetrica slitta d’acciaio.
Le finiture della struttura esterna
possono essere laccato opaco nei
colori bianco RAL 9010 e rosso,

Rota il nuovo tavolo da caffè
disegnato da Denis Santachiara
si sposta sorprendentemente su
ruote che non hanno né raggi, né
mozzo: una divertente sfida alle
nostre convinzioni. La sua struttura
essenziale è costituita da un sottile
foglio di alluminio curvato che
poggia su due anelli anch’essi di
alluminio.
A prima vista questi dischi cavi
sembrano dei semplici elementi fissi
di sostegno perché sono privi di
tutti gli strumenti di trasmissione
del movimento che siamo soliti
associare alle ruote. Invece lo
sono: all’occorrenza permettono di
spostare il tavolo ruotando su se
stesse grazie ad un piccolo prodigio
meccanico.

Rota is the new coffee table
designed by Denis Santachiara that
can rather surprisingly be moved on
wheels that have no spokes or hub,
challenging our convictions in an
amusing way. Its essential structure
consists of a curved thin sheet of
aluminium resting on two aluminium
rings.
At a quick glance these hollow
disks look like simple fixed supports,
since they apparently have no
devices for the transmission of
movement that we usually associate
with wheels. Nevertheless, they are
wheels. A small mechanical marvel
means that the table can be rotated
on itself. Rota is available in matt
white and in three sizes: l 1100mm
x d 1100mm; l 1500mm x d 1000mm
and l 1200mm x d 800mm.

bewegt sich überraschend auf

Der Schein trügt jedoch: Bei Bedarf
lässt sich der Tisch verschieben,
indem die Räder Dank eines kleinen
mechanischen Wunderwerks um
sich selbst drehen.

Continua is an adjustable wall–
mounted bookcase, also meant for
dividing open spaces. The continuous
supporting framework and shelves
gives life to a design that is simple
and linear. The high standard of the
modular Continua system can be
seen in the quality of the finishes and
the superior details: the bookends,
the shelf supports, the uprights in
extruded aluminium and the new
cable tidy support.
The Centre version is useful for
organizing open spaces, it is provided
of wall–uprights with an adjustable
telescopic system that allows installing
from floor to ceiling. Spindlers on
top of uprights have a 12mm diameter.
Continua Media is in painted metal
sheet and is hooked onto the upright
support of the bookcase to hide all
the media equipment cables used in
everyday modern life (TV, DVD players,
PC, consoles etc.). All the Continua
elements have an epoxy powder
coated finish in silver, white RAL 9010
