Dal 3 Settembre 1786 al 18 giugno 1788 Johann Wolfgang Goethe attraversa l’Italia: Verona, Vicenza, Venezia, Ferrara,
Roma, Perugia, Napoli, Palermo, Agrigento, Taormina. Il “grand tour” nel “paese ove fioriscono i limoni” diventa allora un
momento fondamentale nella formazione di ogni intellettuale. Nell’Italia del XVIII e XIX secolo si cerca quella commistione
unica e irripetibile di natura e cultura, di piacere e intelletto. Enrico Astori ha immaginato un giorno di ripercorrere i passi
di Goethe, a ritroso però, dalla Sicilia alla Toscana. E quindi, in una lunga e calda estate, i pezzi di Driade Store si sono
improvvisamente trovati a confrontarsi con i templi di Sicacusa e il giardino di Boboli, con la cupola del Brunelleschi e la
Piazza dei Miracoli di Pisa. Le forme del design contemporaneo, allusive, suggestive, ospitali, sovente chiare, hanno imparato
a dialogare con l’Italia, con i suoi profumi e i suoi colori, intensi, caldi, irripetibili. Ne è nata una storia per immagini che
vuole essere contemporaneamente un omaggio ad una terra ineguagliabile e all’eternità dei gesti di progettare e costruire
forme belle. Cambiano infatti nel tempo le materie e le tecniche, ma rimane la passione per il progetto e la capacità di far
vivere gli oggetti straordinari fuori e dentro le mura delle nostre case.
From September 3, 1786 to June 18, 1788 Johann Wolfgang Goethe traveled through Italy: Verona, Vicenza, Venice,
Ferrara, Rome, Perugia, Naples, Palermo, Agrigento, Taormina. The “grand tour” in the “land where lemons bloom” becomes
so a milestone in any intellectual’s education. In eighteenth and nineteenth century’s Italy, man search for that unique and
unrepeatable mingling of nature and culture, pleasure and intellect. Enrico Astori has imagined a journey in the footsteps of
Goethe, but in reverse, from Sicily to Tuscany. In a long, hot summer, then, Driade Store items suddenly found themselves to
deal with Syracuse temples and Boboli gardens, with the dome by Brunelleschi and Piazza dei Miracoli in Pisa. The forms
of contemporary design, allusive, evocative, embracing, often linear, have learned to face Italy, with its smells and its colors,
intense, warm and inimitable. The result was a story in pictures that wants to be both a tribute to a unique land and to the
eternal nature of the gestures to design and construct beautiful forms. Materials and techniques change in fact along times,
but a passion remains for the project and the ability to experience extraordinary objects outside and inside our homes.
