Server Migration using VMware P2V Assistant is for any ESX Server, GSX
Server, or VMware Workstation user who needs to transform an image of
an existing physical system non-intrusively into a virtual machine.
Obiettivi del Corso
In two days, learn to clone images at both the file level and block level,
and use P2V Assistant and third-party tools to reconfigure systems and
proactively adjust disk sizes, types, and partitions to maximize storage
use.
- Understand the differences between physical disks and virtual disks,
and how virtual disks behave in a virtual environment.
- Explore options and issues in cloning technologies, including:
- Differences between file level cloning and disk level cloning
- Differences between the P2VA boot CD and third-party imaging
products.
- Select the appropriate cloning solution for the environment.
- Examine the impact of the P2V process on different operating systems.
- Troubleshoot common problems that occur during imaging and
system reconfiguration.

This course is designed for administrators and IT teams planning server
consolidation projects. Some familiarity with VMware Workstation, GSX
Server, or ESX Server is assumed
Prerequisiti
A good understanding of Windows operating systems and PC hardware.
Experience using VMware Workstation, GSX Server or ESX Server.
