SECOND CIRCULAR and CALL for PAPERS EFCE Conference number 628, promoted by the Working Party “High Pressure Technology” of the European Federation of Chemical Engineering (EFCE) and co-sponsored by the AIChE High Pressure in Venice 4 TH INTERNATIONAL SYMPOSIUM ON HIGH PRESSURE PROCESS TECHNOLOGY AND CHEMICAL ENGINEERING September 22-25, 2002 Centro Congressi di Venezia Palazzo del Casinò Lido di Vene zia-Italy With the organizational support of The Italian Association of Chemical Engineering General Scope Venue Hotel Reservation This International Conference on High Pressure Process Technology and Chemical Engineering is the fourth of a series of symposia organised by the European Federation of Chemical Engineering (EFCE), after those held in Erlangen (1984 and 1990) and Zürich (1996). Nowadays chemical and in general process technology at high pressure are receiving special interest. A number of new, promising and efficient high-pressure processes for reaction, separation, precipitation and material treatment stimulate scientific challenge and industrial interests alike. This event is a unique chance for high-pressure engineers, chemists, physicists, food technologists, pharmaceutical technologists and biologists to meet and discuss ideas, solutions and future issues on high-pressure applications. Venice, worldwide most famous Italian city, was selected by the organizing Working Party as the Symposium site. All Symposium Sessions will take place at the: Accommodations are available both at Lido di Venezia, within walking distance from the Centro Congressi, and in Venice downtown. A number of rooms have been reserved, at four different hotel rates and standards. Room reservations will be made directly by participants. The accommodation form will be available on Symposium web site from October 2001. Scientific Program The Symposium will be held over three days. The program includes plenary and oral communications (three parallel sessions), and poster sessions. The scientific program will encompass all most recent advances in high-pressure process technology and chemical engineering. Main topics of the scientific program will be: Ø Ø Ø Ø Ø Ø Chemical Reaction Engineering Biochemical Reactions and Bioprocesses Separation Processes and Phase Equilibria Material processing Plant, Apparatus, Machinery, Measurements, Control Applications to Chemical, Food, Pharmaceutical and Cosmetic Industries Exhibition Space will be available for Comp anies to present their manufacturing programme and/or equipment related to the subject of the Symposium. Further details can be provided to interested Companies upon contacting the Assistant to Chairman (Dr. Zwahlen). Centro Congressi di Venezia Palazzo del Casinò Lido di Venezia, Lungomare Marconi 30 30126 Venezia, Italy (tel. 041 526 7887, fax. 041 526 7898). Lido di Venezia is an island close to Venice downtown (i.e. Piazza San Marco), from which it can be reached by boat in ten minutes. At the Lido boat station a bus is available for connection to Centro Congressi, Palazzo del Casinò (about 1.5 km apart) every 12 minutes. Social events An optional gala dinner will be organized in Venice downtown. A number of excursions will be scheduled for accompanying persons. These will be reported in the Symposium web site.
