ITALY AMONG THE 19 COUNTRIES AT THE 2016 DRAGON BOAT WORLD CHAMPIONSHIPS 72 ATHLETES IN AZZURRO RACING IN MOSCOW FROM THE 6TH TO 11TH OF SEPTEMBER AN IMPORTANT STEP IN THE LEAD UP TO VENICE 2017 Venice, the 5th of September 2016 - Seventy-two athletes will wear the blue of Italy at the 2016 Dragon Boat World Championship, which kicks off tomorrow, Tuesday the 6th September and goes on until Sunday the 11th in Moscow. 19 nations will be represented (only Italy will field 2 teams for each distance) challenging each other on the flat water of the Krylatskoe Olympic Course, on board of the 10-man and 20-man dragon boats, in the Junior, Senior and Master categories and over the distances of 200, 500 and 2,000 meters. An important event (www.dragonmoscow2016.ru) not only on technical and competitive aspects, but also from a symbolic point of view, since at the conclusion of the competition, the city of Moscow will pass the flag to Venice who, from 3rd to 8th of September 2017, will be host to the World Dragon Boat Championships for Clubs (www.venice2017.com). These are the 19 nations competing in Moscow 2016: Armenia, Canada, Estonia, Philippines, France, Germany, Japan, Hong Kong, Italy, India, Moldova, Poland, Czech Republic, Russia, United States, Sweden, Thailand, Ukraine, Hungary. "These World Championships are going to be hard - explains Andrea Bedin, venetian team leader, head of the Italian Canoe Kayak Federation dragon boat - but we are prepared to face every challenge with determination, both in and out of the water."
