Defending
It is vital that as soon as the team lose possession every player can become a
potential defender.
The defender nearest to the ball should always move to challenge the attacking player
with the ball, the other nearest defender should cover. The coach has to convince all
of his
players that they have a defensive role when their team lose possession of the ball
even the out and out strikers. There are principles to be adopted by all players:
- PRESS THE PLAYER ON THE BALL
Pressare il giocatore con la palla
- TRACK ANY FORWARD MOVEMENT
Seguire qualsiasi movimento in avanti
- COVER EACH OTHER
Coprirsi l’un l’altro
- KEEP THE TEAM COMPACT
Tenere la squadra compatta
- CLOSE DOWN THE PLAYER WITH THE BALL
Chiudere il giocatore con la palla
- TRACK ANY FORWARD RUN
Seguire qualsiasi corsa in avanti
- KEEP A CONSTANT COMMUNICATION AMONG TEAM MATES
Tenere una costante comunicazione tra I compagni
- SHOW A HABIT OF WORKING FOR EACH OTHER
- SHIFT ACROSS THE PITCH AS A UNIT
Scivolare attraverso il campo in modo compatto
Defenders must be ready to deal with every type of play: 1 direct play; 2 closing
down the opposition; 3 marking on crosses;4 marking in midfield; 5 defending on set
plays.

Translate into Italian
The team in possession can attack with direct play, that is direct route to goal with
long high balls or passes in behind the back four.
As the ball arrives the defenders react by heading or volleying it away as well as they
may control the ball and restart their own attacking action.
They must keep together in a line, stay narrow and keep communicating.
They will also push up (or:get up) as a defensive line trapping the forwards offside.
The defenders off the ball will take covering position automatically.
The FULL-BACKS must not be deeper than the CENTRAL DEFENDERS
dietro i quattro difensori.
Devono tenersi uniti in linea, stare stretti
e comunicare continuamente.
------------------------- Part B ------------------------Rumors are going around that Mourinho is ready to join Chelsea again. A member of
the club revealed: “Mou won last season’s La Liga title with record points and
record goals scored but they don’t love him in Madrid like we do at Chelsea.
We know he has a future at Stamford Bridge”
queste dichiarazioni:
RELATIONSHIP SIMPLY BECAME UNWORKABLE
What the club said
“It is only right that we explain the reasons behind Josè Mourinho leaving Chelsea
and also recognize the immense contribution he has made to the club and to English
football.
Early this morning we announced
company by mutual consent.
that Chelsea and Jose Mourinho had agreed to part
The key phrase here is that there was mutual agreement. Jose did not resign and he
was not sacked.
We had all reached a point where the relationship between the club and Jose had
broken down. The reason the decision has been taken is that we believed the
breakdown started to impact on the performance of the team, and recent results
supported this view. We did not want this to affect the club further. We must pay
tribute to the great job Jose did for Chelsea. He has been the most successful
manager the club has known and he rightly deserves that place in our history.
Jose has been instrumental in putting Chelsea where it is today, among the leading
clubs in European and world football.
He will always be welcome at Stamford Bridge, whether as the guest of Chelsea or as
the
manager of another club, and he will be given the reception and respect his
position in our history deserves.”
Jose leaves with head high...and a fat wallet
Mourinho said: ”I am very proud of my work in Chelsea Football Club and I think my
decision inMay2004 to come to England was an excellent one. It was a beautiful and
rich period of my career.
I was to thank all Chelsea FC supporters for what I believe is a never ending love
story.”
He added: “I wish great success to the club, a club that will be forever connected to
me for some historical moments. I wish the players happiness in football and in their
family life.
Finally on my wife’s and children’s behalf, we thank the great professionalism of their
school teachers and the beauty of so many friends.”
