Tenor
Sung Kyu Park is born in Korea, he studied singing at the Sham Yook University and moved
then to Europe, where he continued his studies in Paris, Parma and Milan.
He won the 1° prize in the competition "Riccardo Zandonai" in Riva del Garda and "Opera" in
Marseille and the 3° prize at "Francisco Cuart" in Palma/Mallorca, furthermore he won prizes
in competitions in Cosenza, Piacenza, Reggio Emilia, Vercelli, San Remo.
He started his career singing in Italy roles like Pollione in Modena, Ferrara, Livorno,
Piacenza and Trieste, Giasone in "Medea" with Bruno Campanella in Palermo, Radames in
Savona, Trieste and Rimini, Ernani in Piacenza and Ravenna, Duca in "Rigoletto" in
Rome, Prague and Genua and “Traviata” Alfredo in Chieti.
He sang Riccardo in "Ballo in maschera" in Cremona and Messina, "Due Foscari" with
Stefano Ranzani in Palermo, Foresto in "Attila" in Catania, Faust (Gounod) with Philippe
Augin in Como, Werther with Alain Lombard and "Gioconda" with Roberto Abbado in
Rome, Luigi in "Tabarro" in Pisa, Livorno, Bozen and "Boheme" in Bergamo.
Other contracts brought him to Trieste, Pisa and Torre del Lago as Cavaradossi, to Trieste,
Ferrara, Pisa and Torre del Lago as Pinkerton, to Lucca, Mantua, Novara, Torre del
Lago, Savona and Rovigo as Calaf, to Bergamo, Naples, Rome and Florence as Turiddu,
and to Modena, Livorno, Trieste, Verona, Lucca, Livorno and Rovigo with "Iris".
Outside of Italy he was heard in Dessau in "Norma", in Tokyo as Radames and Gabriele in
"Simone Boccanegra" both with Nello Santi, in Seoul with "Traviata", "Andrea Chenier" and
"Mefistofele", in Kiel with “Verdi Requiem” and as Lohengrin and in Bilbao as Calaf.
Recent contracts till 2015 include Turiddu at Teatro Comunale in Florence, Calaf with
Placido Domingo in Muscat, Sou Chong in "Land des Lächelns" in Trieste with Alfred
Eschwe, Lohengrin, Andrea Chenier and Bacchus in Kiel, Radames and Pollione in Dessau
and Turiddu at Teatro dell' Opera in Rome.
2015/2016 he was heard as Andrea Chenier at Teatro San Carlo in Naples, as Erik, Rienzi and
Cavaradossi in Kiel, as Alfredo and Andrea Chenier in Seoul, as Pollione in St. Gallen, in
concerts as Calaf and Hoffmann in Lübeck, with Bruckner’s “Te Deum” in Bari and as
Manrico in Lille, Luxembourg and Caen, 2016/17 he is engaged as Calaf and Pollione in
Catania, with "Manon Lescaut" in Bari , with "Fosca" by Gomez in Sao Paulo and for
"Cyrano de Bergerac" at Met ".
