Installazione di ATOMIC interno, versione IRIS e TRAX
0. Requisiti del PC
CPU 286 o superiore
3 MB liberi sul disco rigido (100MB con Banca Dati Immagini)
RAM TOTALE 1MB o superiore

1. Montaggio di ATOMIC nel computer
1.
Collegare al modulo ATOMIC i seguenti cavetti forniti con la dotazione:
1.
Cavetto 8 poli 40 cm
2.
Cavetto 10 poli 40 cm (fornito già
collegato alla piastra per lo slot
esterno)
3.
Cavetto telefonico da 80 cm
4.
Cavetto 4 poli

Il cavetto N. 1 deve essere collegato al
connettore con la serigrafia BIM J14 sulla
scheda 1089 del modulo ATOMIC. Occorre
fare molta attenzione al verso: sul connettore
del cavetto è presente una spina, mentre sulla
scheda, accanto al connettore BIM J14, è
presente un foro. La spina e il foro devono
coincidere.
Il cavetto N. 2 deve essere collegato al
connettore con la serigrafia P1 PC/PRINTER
sulla scheda 1089 del modulo ATOMIC.
Il cavetto N. 3 deve essere collegato al
connettore con la serigrafia J10 sulla scheda
1089 del modulo ATOMIC.
Il cavetto N. 4 deve essere collegato al
connettore J16 della scheda 1089 del modulo
ATOMIC.

Togliere il coperchio al computer. Se si tratta di un
modello TOWER con i coperchi laterali indipendenti,
toglierli entrambi per facilitare l'accesso alla zona di
lavoro.

Togliere uno dei coperchi di plastica sul frontale del
computer per liberare l'accesso ad una delle
postazioni in cui è possibile installare ATOMIC (per
intendersi si tratta di una delle postazioni normalmente
riservate al floppy disk da 5 e 1/4 o al CDROM).

Inserire il modulo, con i cavetti così collegati, al suo
posto dentro il computer.
5.
Fissare, con le 8 viti fornite in dotazione, il modulo
ATOMIC.
6.
Connettere il cavetto N. 4 ad uno dei
connettori di alimentazione provenienti
dall'alimentatore del computer
7.
Individuare, sul retro del computer, due
slot liberi, possibilmente adiacenti. In
quello fisicamente più vicino alla porta
seriale che si intende utilizzare (qualora
non si conosca bene la disposizione
delle porte seriali, si consiglia di fare
riferimento al manuale del computer),
inserire l'apposito supporto metallico,
collegato tramite il cavetto N. 2 al
modulo ATOMIC e fissarlo con la vite.
8.
Collegare, sulla schedina presente su
questo supporto metallico, il cavetto N.
1 proveniente dal modulo ATOMIC,
facendo attenzione che la spina
presente sul connettore del cavo e il
foro presente sulla schedina
corrispondano (vedi immagine
precedente).

Nel secondo slot libero inserire l'altro supporto metallico in dotazione (quello da cui escono 4
connettori) e fissarlo con la vite.

Su quest'ultimo supporto è presente anche un connettore rivolto verso l'interno del calcolatore:
bisogna collegarci il cavetto N. 3 proveniente dal modulo ATOMIC (vedi immagine precedente).
11.
Collegare, esternamente al computer, il cavetto 9 poli
30 cm dal connettore a 9 poli del primo supporto
metallico che abbiamo inserito alla porta seriale libera
presente sul computer. Se il connettore della porta
seriale è del tipo a 25 pin, inserire l'adattatore (da 25
pin a 9 pin) in dotazione.
12.
Collegare i sensori come indicato dal manuale
dell'assetto ruote.
Accendere il computer.

2A. Installazione del software ATOMIC in Windows 95/98
a) Installazione da floppy disk

Inserire il dischetto Hard Disk Install 1 nell'unità dischetti da 3"½ (1.44 Mb).
Fare click su Avvio e selezionare Esegui....
Digitare A:(o B:)\INSTALL C: e premere Invio.
Attendere il completamento dell'installazione fin quando non appare il messaggio:
Remove floppy disk and press any key.
b) Installazione da CD ROM

Inserire il CD ROM Fasep nel drive;
Fare click su Start e selezionare Esegui;
Fare click su Sfoglia;
Fare click su Cerca in e selezionare Fasep (D:);
Fare doppio click sulla directory corrispondente alla versione di programma che ci
interessa installare;
Fare doppio click sulla directory Disk1;
Selezionare Install e fare click su Apri;
Aggiungere, alla riga di comando visualizzata, uno spazio e C: (.........Install.exe c:);
Fare click su Ok e attendere la fine dell’installazione. Nel caso che si stia installando una
8.x, a un certo punto la procedura si interromperà per chiedere l’inserimento del secondo
disco; bisogna cancellare 1\ con il tasto BACKSPACE e scrivere 2 al suo posto, poi
premere ENTER. Attendere la fine dell’installazione;
2B. Installazione del software ATOMIC in MS-DOS
a) Installazione da floppy disk

Inserire il dischetto Hard Disk Install1 nell'unità dischetti da 3"½ (1.44 Mb).
Digitare A:(o B:)\INSTALL C: e premere Invio.
Attendere il completamento dell'installazione fin quando non appare il messaggio:

b) Installazione da CD ROM

Inserire il CD ROM Fasep nel drive;
Digitare D: e premere Enter;
Digitare il comando DIR e premere Enter. Apparirà la lista delle directory;
Digitare CD VDE_xx (dove xx sono i due numeri della directory che contiene la versione
più recente del programma) e premere Enter;
Digitare CD DISK1 e premere Enter;
Digitare INSTALL C: e premere Enter;
Attendere la fine dell’installazione. Nel caso che si stia installando una versione 8.x, a un
certo punto la procedura si interromperà per chiedere l’inserimento del secondo disco;
bisogna cancellare 1\ con il tasto BACKSPACE e scrivere 2 al suo posto, poi premere
ENTER. Premere un tasto per terminare l’installazione e riavviare automaticamente il
computer;
Attendere la partenza del programma VDE. Se non è stato ancora installato l’hardware
di ATOMIC, il programma si fermerà quando non troverà la scheda interfaccia: premere
Esc per tornare al DOS;
Rimuovere il disco dall’unità CD ROM;

Accendere ATOMIC.
Fare doppio Clic sull'icona Atomic posizionata sullo schermo:

Accendere ATOMIC.
Digitare CD \FASEP\VDE e premere Invio.
Digitare VDE e premere Invio.
4. Attivazione della Banca Dati
Soltanto al primo avvio del programma ATOMIC è necessario attivare la banca dati eseguendo la
seguente procedura:
1.
Avviare il programma ATOMIC.
2.
Dal MENU PRINCIPALE selezionare UTILITY.
3.
Selezionare INSTALLAZIONE APPLICAZIONI.
4.
Selezionare INSTALLAZIONE BANCA DATI.
5.
Selezionare INTEGRAZIONE BANCA DATI CORRENTE.
6.
Alla richiesta di conferma per procedere all'attivazione, premere Invio per confermare.
7.
Attendere che vengano completate le operazioni di attivazione sui files della banca dati,
dopodichè apparirà il messaggio "INSTALLAZIONE TERMINATA, PREMERE ESC PER
RIAVVIARE IL COMPUTER", premere Esc ed attendere il riavvio del computer (in Windows 95
la finestra si chiuderà automaticamente).
8.
Riavviare il programma ATOMIC per iniziare a lavorare.
5. Uscita dal software ATOMIC
1.
Posizionarsi in pagina MENU PRINCIPALE e premere F3 oAlt+X.
6. Nota tecnica

Se la memoria convenzionale libera non è sufficiente, occorre inserire le seguenti linee nel file
C:\CONFIG.SYS:
DOS=HIGH,UMB
DEVICEHIGH=C:\WINDOWS\HIMEM.SYS
DEVICEHIGH=C:\WINDOWS\EMM386.EXE NOEMS
Se, dopo aver eseguito correttamente le precedenti istruzioni, dovesse apparire il messaggio
FASEP BOARD FAILED OR NOT PRESENT
eseguire i seguenti controlli:

Controllare, facendo riferimento al manuale del computer, che il connettore a 25 o a 9
poli al quale abbiamo connesso l'ATOMIC sia effettivamente una porta seriale.
Controllare, facendo riferimento al manuale del computer, che la porta seriale alla quale
abbiamo connesso l'ATOMIC sia una COM1 o una COM2 (altre seriali, ad esempio
COM3 o COM4 non vanno bene).

How to install Internal ATOMIC, IRIS and TRAX version
0. PC requirements
CPU 286 or higher
3 MB free disk space (100MB when installing Image Bank)
RAM 1MB or higher
Free Base memory 600k or higher
SVGA 512Kb or higher, VESA compatible
COM port to connect ATOMIC interface
LPT port to connect a printer
EPSON compatible printer
1. Assembling ATOMIC on computer
1. The standard accessories of ATOMIC include:

8 poles 40cm cable
2.
10 poles 40cm cable (including
connected to the plate for external slot)
3.
80cm phone cable
4.
4 poles cable adapter for power
switching
Connect the cable N. 1 to the BIM J14
connector on the 1089 board on ATOMIC
(check and insert into the correct position: see
the female and male connectors).
Connect the cable N. 2 to the PC/PRINTER
J12 connector on the 1089 board.
Connect the cable N. 3 to the J10 connector on
the 1089 board.
Connect the cable N. 4 to the J16 connector on
the 1089 board.

Remove the PC cover. For the tower PC models is
better to remove both 2 side cover.

Remove 1 of the front plastic covers for prepare the
installation of ATOMIC (normally used for 5" 1/4 floppy
disk or for CDROM driver).

Install the ATOMIC in the PC with the cables
connected as into the picture.
5.
Fixing the ATOMIC with the included screws.
6.
Connect the cable N. 4 to one of power
cables of the power supply of the PC.
7.
Find, on the rear of the computer, two
adjacent and free slots. In the one
physically more near to the serial port
you want to use (see the computer
manual to know the disposition of the
serial ports), insert the metallic support,
connected by the cable N. 2 to ATOMIC
module and fix it with the screw.
8.
Connect, to the little board on this
metallic support, the cable N. 1, coming
from ATOMIC (check and insert into
the correct position: see the female and
male connectors).
9.
In the second free slot insert the other
metallic support (the one with 5
connectors and fix it with the screw.

Connect, to the connector mounted turned to internal of the computer, the cable N. 3 coming from
ATOMIC.

Connect, externally of the computer, the cable 9 pins
30 cm, from the connector 9 pins of the first metallic
support to the serial port of the computer. If the serial
port is a type with 25 pins, insert the adaptor (from 25
pins to 9 pins) supplied.
12.
Connect the sensors like indicated by the user’s
manual of the wheel alignment.
Switch on the computer.

2A. ATOMIC software installation on Windows 95/98
a) Installation by floppy disk

Install the Hard Disk Install 1 diskette into the 3"½ driver (1.44 Mb).
Select START and Run....
Press A:(or B:)\INSTALL C: and press Start.
Wait until appear the following message:
Remove floppy disk and press any key.
b) Installation by CD ROM

Insert the Fasep CD ROM into the drive;
Click on Start and select Run...;
Click on Browse;
Click on Search on and select Fasep (D:);
Double click on the directory corresponding to the program version that you want to
install;
Double click on the directory Disk1;
Select Install and click on Open;
Add, at the visualized command line, a space and C: (.........Install.exe c:);
Click on Ok and wait for the end of installation. In case of installation of a 8.x version, the
procedure will interrupt to ask you to insert the second disk; you must cancel 1\ using
BACKSPACE and write 2 instead, then press ENTER. Wait for the end of the installation;
2B. ATOMIC software installation on MS-DOS
a) Installation by floppy disk

Wait for the end of installation. In case of installation of a 8.x version, the procedure will
interrupt to ask you to insert the second disk; you must cancel 1\ using BACKSPACE and
write 2 instead, then press ENTER. Wait for the end of the installation;

3A. Starting ATOMIC program on Windows 95/98

Turn on ATOMIC.
Double click on Atomic icon on the screen:

Turn on ATOMIC.
Type CD \FASEP\VDE and push Enter.
Type VDE and push Enter.
4. Databank Activation
Only when starting ATOMIC for the first time, you may need to activate the databank with the following
procedure:
1.
Run ATOMIC program.

Select UTILITY from MAIN MENU.
2.
Select INSTALL APPLICATION.
3.
Select INSTALL/UPDATE DATA BANK.
4.
Select UPDATE CURRENT DATA BANK
5.
Press <ENTER> to confirm.
6.
Wait for the installation until the following message appears on the screen: "INSTALLATION
TERMINATED, PRESS ESC TO RESTART THE COMPUTER", push <ESC> and wait for the
computer starts again (in Windows 95 the window will be automatically closed).
7.
Start again ATOMIC program to start to work.
5. Exit from ATOMIC program
1.
Enter in MAIN MENU and push Alt+X.
6. Technical note

Insert the following lines into file C:\CONFIG.SYS if there is not sufficient free conventional
memory:
DOS=HIGH,UMB
DEVICE=C:\WINDOWS\HIMEM.SYS
DEVICE=C:\WINDOWS\EMM386.EXE RAM
If, after correctly perform the preceding instructions, appears the message
FASEP BOARD FAILED OR NOT PRESENT
execute following checks:

Check, referring to computer instructions, that the 25 pins or 9 pins connector where
ATOMIC is connected, is indeed a serial port.
Check, referring to computer instructions, that serial port where ATOMIC is connected
is a COM1 or COM2 (others serials, for example COM3 or COM4 are no good).
