el caldo fine settimana del 18 e 19 settembre si
è svolto nello stadio del Coni di atletica leggera
della Città di Trapani il I° Trapani Arabian Cup,
concorso regionale del purosangue arabo.
La città di Trapani ha accolto i cavalli arabi con molta
partecipazione, tanto che un folto pubblico ha riempito
nei due giorni di gara la splendida struttura sportiva messa
gentilmente a disposizione dal Comune di Trapani.
Un buon numero di cavalli si sono susseguiti nelle diverse
categorie dello show, con una buona qualità dimostrata
anche dai punteggi assegnati dalla giuria internazionale
formata dalla Sig.ra Pilar Cavero dalla Spagna, dalla sig.
ra Titti Gagliani e dal Sig. Francesco Sanchi entrambi
dall’Italia. Mario Bonomi nelle vesti di master ring e Mireno Cardelli coadiuvato da Barbara Raso come disciplinare, hanno gestito con facilità i cavalli in campo. Molti i
proprietari emozionatissimi che presentavano i propri cavalli vicino ai professionisti del settore. Particolare anche la
gara di presentazione riservata agli handler non professionisti disputatasi nella giornata di domenica mattina, dove
alcuni handler, dopo aver sostenuto un clinic di presentazione tenutosi nei mesi scorsi vicino a Siracusa, venivano
giudicati mentre mettevano in pratica quello che avevano
imparato, presentando al meglio i propri cavalli. Circa 40
i soggetti presentati di provenienza di allevamenti siciliani
che si sono scontrati con molti cavalli provenienti dalla
vicina Calabria. Questi i vincitori delle ambite medaglie
d’oro: per le puledre Tf Jamila (Royal Colours x Moroca
Galaa), per i Puledri TF STAR IBN PSEQUEL ( Psequel x Tf Luna) entrambi allevati e di proprietà di Tripodi
Francesco, per le fattrici Nadira MP (Qr Excel x Petra) di
proprietà di Zito Giorgio ed infine, per gli stalloni, Aretusa Akim (Windsprees Mirage x Pwa Asifa) di proprietà
di Giuseppe Palumbo dell’allevamento Aretusa. I quattro
campioni si sono contesi il titolo di best in show che è
stato vinto dallo splendido stallone Aretusa Akim, il quale
in categoria già aveva ottenuto il maggior punteggio dello
show, grazie a ben nove 10 ottenuti unanimemente dalla
giuria sia in tipo che in testa e collo che in movimento.
Questo show è stato realizzato grazie all’infaticabile organizzazione coordinata da Antonio Culcasi Presidente del
Circolo Ippico Montelice, coordinato dalla dr.ssa Laura
Mascagna, responsabile Anica e speaker dell’evento, insieme al contributo logistico di Marco Capelli in veste di
fotografo ufficiale.
La città di Trapani, la Giunta Comunale e la Provincia di
Trapani hanno accolto con la grande ospitalità siciliana i
cavalli arabi in una città che per due giorni ha fatto festa a
questi splendidi cavalli accolti tra i due mari, che fanno di
Trapani una città particolare, ricca di cultura e di tradizioni alle quali i cavalli hanno fatto da splendida cornice.
Non ci rimane che attendere l’anno prossimo per vedere
un evento che, sicuramente, legherà per il futuro i cavalli
arabi a tutta la città di Trapani! q

he First Arabian Cup in Trapani – a Regional
Arabian Horse Show – took place over the warm
week end of 18th – 19th September in the Coni
Athletics Stadium.
During the two day event, the entire town opened its doors
to the Arabian Horses and the numerous public crammed the
Sports Facility made available by the Town Hall of Trapani.
A reasonable number of horses competed in the different categories of the show. The quality of the horses was high as confirmed
by the scores that were given by the Judges .
The team of International Judges was formed by Mrs.
Pilar Cavero from Spain, Mrs. Titti Gagliani and Mr.
Francesco Sanchi from Italy. The Ring Master was Mr.
Mario Bonomi. The disciplinary committee was represented by Mireno Cardelli and Barbara Raso who easily
managed the horses in the show ring.
There were many excited and emotional owners who personally presented their horses in the show ring alongside
the professional handlers.
On Sunday morning an unusual competition was held for
a group of non-professional handlers who had attended a
period of training near Siracusa during the previous months. They were evaluated while presenting their own horses at their very best.
There were almost 40 horses in the show. Many came from the
Stud Farms in Sicily and the main contenders were horses from
close by Calabria.
The winners of the much desired Gold Medals were: TF Jamila
(Royal Colours X Moroca Galaa) for the Fillies and Star Ibn
Psequel ( Psequel x Tf Luna) for the Colts, both bred and owned by Mr. Francesco Tripodi. The winner of the Mares Gold
Medal was Nadira MP (Qr Excel X Petra) owned by Mr. Zito
Giorgio. The winner of the Stallions Gold Medal was Aretusa
Akim ( Windspress Mirage X Pwa Asifa) owned by Mr. Giuseppe Palumbo of the Aretusa Stud Farm.
The four Champions were also the contenders of the Best in
Show title won by the beautiful stallion Aretusa Akim, who
received the highest score of the show while competing in his
category (nine times 10 unanimously given by the Judges for
type, head & neck and for movement) .
Special thanks go to the organizers of the show : the Chairman
of the Motelice Riding Club who coordinated everything together with the person in charge for ANICA Dr. Laura Mascagna who was also the speaker of the show.
The official photographer was Marco Capelli who also assisted
with the logistics.
The town of Trapani, the City Council and the District of Trapani welcomed the spectacular Arabian Horses with amazing
warm Sicilian hospitality. Trapani lies between two Seas and
is a town full of tradition and culture made even more charming – on this occasion - by the presence of its “exotic guests”.
Now, we will have to wait until next year for the second edition of the show that will definitely link the whole town of
Trapani even closer to Arabian Horses! q
